Selecting a career in medicine after Class 12th is an important decision in a student’s life. Getting an MBBS seat in a government medical college is competitive and challenging for many students. In such cases, MBBS admission in deemed universities becomes a practical option in India. Deemed universities provide MBBS programs that are approved by national authorities and follow a transparent admission process.
What are Deemed Universities for MBBS
A deemed university has been given the special status of “Deemed to be University” by the University Grants Commission. This status gives the university academic freedom, which means it can create its own syllabus and manage its academic activities independently, while still following government rules and regulations. In medical education, many deemed universities in India operate medical colleges that provide the MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) program. These MBBS courses are recognised by the National Medical Commission and follow the national standards set for medical education in India.
