Deemed Medical Colleges are private institutions in India that have been granted the status of “deemed to be universities” by the University Grants Commission (UGC). While they operate independently, their medical programs are fully recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). These colleges offer a flexible approach for medical education, with their courses, fees, and managing admissions compared to government colleges. Deemed Medical Colleges: Overview
India has 59 Deemed Medical Colleges. These colleges are located across states, with one college each in Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Kerala, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. States like Odisha, Telangana, and Haryana have two Deemed Medical Colleges, while Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra have 14 each. Karnataka follows closely with 12, and Pondicherry has 5.

Eligibility of Deemed Medical Colleges
To get MBBS admission in Deemed Universities, candidates must be Indian citizens, although NRIs and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) may also apply for certain seats. The candidate should be at least 17 years old by 31st December of the admission year, with a maximum age limit of 25 years, and a 5-year relaxation for SC/ST/OBC candidates. Additionally they must have passed 10+2 or an equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English, securing at least 50% marks in these subjects (40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates). To qualify for admission, candidates must also clear the NEET UG exam and meet the cutoff set by the Deemed University.
